Mayholme

Housing and support for young parents and parents-to-be

This scheme in Nottingham is for people aged 16-25. 

It consists of nine furnished bedsits, with support to help residents live independently.

Residents get emotional and practical support, and help with finding permanent housing.

Mayholme is a very vibrant place, with a new community facility, children’s play areas inside and out, and a wealth of social and recreational activities including:

  • Theme nights (health, hair and beauty)
  • Fashion shows
  • Meals out
  • Yoga sessions
  • College visits
  • First aid courses
  • Seaside trips

Staff are on duty seven days a week to provide a safe environment, with security cover through the night, and the additional reassurance of CCTV.

When residents are nearly ready to move out of Mayholme, but not yet ready to go into the community, we also offer self contained flats allowing for greater independence.

Family First Day Nursery 

Fun, educational and safe care for pre-school children

We provide high quality childcare for children aged six weeks to five years, in Nottingham.

ReadingOur nursery in Chilwell which was formally opened in May 2007:

  • Offers opportunities for your children to learn and develop
  • Is open 8am-6pm, 51 weeks a year (except bank holidays)
  • Can offer extended hours (7.30am start and 6.30pm finish) by arrangement
  • Treats each child as a precious individual
  • Serves healthy, nutritious meals
  • Is flexible to parents’ needs
  • Understands the importance of fun
  • Has indoor and outdoor play areas
  • Specialises in developing children’s creative skills
  • Was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted

Facilities include a ball pool, sensory area, fully-equipped outdoor playground and a quiet zone where children can take their afternoon naps.

Ofsted report (2007): “Children are happy and settled and have good self-esteem, as they are treated with respect and kindness in a caring atmosphere by practitioners who interact effectively with them.”

The nursery offers a specially discounted rate for tenants of Family First and LHA.  Get five days’ childcare, but only pay for four!
